AT THE PILLARS OF CREATION

PROGRAM NOTE

AT THE PILLARS OF CREATION is a tribute to the beauty and majesty of the cosmos, inspired by the iconic image of the Pillars of Creation captured by the Hubble Space Telescope. This piece invites the listener on a journey to the base of these celestial structures, encouraging them to contemplate the infinite expanse of the universe. This work is the final installment in composer Stephen Cabell's trilogy of orchestral pieces inspired by the cosmos, and provides a fitting conclusion to his exploration of the majesty of space and the mysteries of the universe.

AT THE PILLARS OF CREATION was written for the Curtis Symphony and was premiered by conductor Andrew Hauze at Field Concert Hall in 2007.
